Employment Type: Full-Time What you can expect as the Configuration and Data Management Specialist at Fortress… As a Configuration and Data Management Specialist, you support the control and integrity of program technical baselines across hardware and software systems. You are responsible for managing configuration identification, change control, audits, status accounting, deficiency reporting, and contract and engineering data in accordance with government and DoD standards. In this role, you help ensure that technical data, drawings, and change documentation are accurate, compliant, and traceable, while supporting reviews, audits, and program communications that keep systems aligned with contractual and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Include - Configuration Identification and Change Control
- Review specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to establish and maintain government-controlled configuration baselines, including the preparation of nomenclature assignment requests.
- Evaluate and validate engineering change proposals, change notices, and related documentation; identify discrepancies; prepare required briefing materials; support the planning and execution of Change Control Boards (CCBs); and track approved changes through implementation and closure.
- Configuration Audits and Status Accounting
- Support the development and execution of configuration audit plans, documenting observations, generating and tracking corrective action items, and ensuring closure in accordance with standards.
- Maintain accurate configuration status accounting by monitoring data inputs, tracking configurations of fielded systems, and ensuring baseline documentation remains current and properly controlled.
- Deficiency and Contract Data Management
- Operate and maintain deficiency reporting systems, track investigation progress, prepare summaries and responses to inquiries, and support the development of trend analyses and formal reports.
- Participate in data calls and reviews to ensure fulfillment of contract data requirements, track and verify delivery of technical data, and assist with administration of the Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service (CITIS).
- Engineering Data Management (EDM)
- Support engineering data reviews to ensure compliance with technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements; maintain accurate EDM repositories with proper version control; and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve drawing and data discrepancies.
Minimum Qualifications - Minimum of three (3) years’ general experience, with at least one (1) year in configuration and data management.
- Experience in tasks associated with at least five (5) of the configuration management processes listed in the contract.
- Knowledge of government policies, directives, standards, and DoD industry standards relating to configuration/data management.
- Specialized training: Completion of at least one basic level course in configuration and contract data management.
- Must hold a minimum clearance of "Secret".

Must be local to the DMV area and commutable to one or more preferred federal work depots, including: Naval Air Station Patuxent River (Pax River), MD and Washington Navy Yard, DC. Preferred Skills - Direct experience in areas such as ACSNs, ECPs, CCPs, RFWs, RFDs, and configuration audits would be advantageous.
- Experience with deficiency reporting and data management systems like ASE or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting Navy Program Offices or similar defense environments.
- Ability to independently use and refine AI-driven prompts to enhance the quality, efficiency, and insight of regular work processes.
Education: - Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline is required.
