The Cloud Platform Engineer will serve as a key technical leader within the Enterprise IT team, taking ownership of Fortress's expanding cloud infrastructure responsibilities as the organization transitions workloads from DevOps and Technology. This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS and Azure environments while driving automation, vulnerability management, and CI/CD modernization across cloud and on-premises systems. The engineer will play a central role in shaping processes that move the company toward a more secure and efficient future, serving as a decision-maker and subject matter expert for the broader organization. Responsibilities Include: - Design, deploy, and maintain AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure (compute, networking, storage, identity, serverless, and managed database services) supporting Fortress workloads.
- Lead and assist with vulnerability management and remediation across cloud and on-premises systems, including patching, configuration hardening, and tracking findings to closure.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation (or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tooling).
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tooling in Python, PowerShell, and Bash to eliminate manual effort and standardize cloud operations.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support modern deployment strategies.
- Assist with the modernization of existing workloads, including containerization and orchestration efforts using Docker and Kubernetes (or similar) across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting against service level objectives using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor (or similar) and complementary observability tooling.
- Manage networking configuration across cloud and on-premises systems, including VPCs/VNets, subnets, security groups, VPNs, and firewall integrations.
- Support hybrid infrastructure including hypervisors such as VMware (or similar) and ensure consistent operations between cloud and on-site environments.
- Leverage AI tooling in everyday tasks to improve efficiency, quality, and insight across operational, scripting, and documentation work.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and IT staff on cloud architecture, automation, and operational best practices.
- Document architecture, runbooks, and key processes so anyone on the team can come up to speed on changes quickly.
- Partner with Security and IT on compliance, hardening, and Tier 3 escalations affecting cloud and infrastructure systems.

Minimum Qualifications: - 8+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud Engineering, SRE, or DevOps role.
- Hands-on experience administering AWS services such as RDS, VPC, EC2, ECR, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, and S3 (or similar).
- Working experience administering Microsoft Azure services and resources, with special consideration to AzureAI implementation.
- Experience with vulnerability management and remediation, including identifying, prioritizing, patching, and tracking findings to closure across cloud and on-premises systems.
- Strong scripting and automation skillset across Python, PowerShell, and Bash, with a track record of replacing manual operations with reliable processes.
- Demonstrable experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation (or similar).
- Experience with container and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (or similar), and CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions (or similar).
- Comfortable working in Linux environments; experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (or similar) is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server administration.
- Experience implementing rolling deployment strategies such as Blue/Green or Canary (or similar).
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments.
- Ability and willingness to leverage AI tooling in everyday tasks to improve quality, efficiency, and insight in regular work processes.
- Excellent documentation skills so anyone on the team can come up to speed on changes quickly.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Skills: - Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience (or similar).
- Working knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, CMMC, or other compliance standards.
- Extensive position history in other business functions (Solutions Architect, Systems Administrator, DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and management platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, or Crowdstrike.
- Presentation skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of technical and non-technical audiences, including entry level employees and/or executives.
- Security+, CISSP, or relevant security certification.
