Marine Manufacturing Engineer

Haddy is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our St. Petersburg, FL team. As a leader in large-format 3D printing and advanced manufacturing powered by robotics and artificial intelligence, Haddy offers a dynamic and innovative environment for professionals passionate about cutting-edge technology and process optimization.

Position Summary:

This role is dedicated to boat and marine-structure development, translating early hull geometry and customer requirements into production ready files. You’ll work closely with our boat development team to drive hull design, structural integration, manufacturing readiness, and post processing/assembly strategies. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in surface modeling, has practical experience with watercraft design and construction, is familiar with large-format 3D printing, and is comfortable operating in a fast paced, build-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marine Development: Support the development of boat hulls, decks, internal structures, and marine subsystems from concept through full production.
  • Create and iterate complex surfaces in Rhino3D with manufacturability in mind.
  • Translate design concepts into production ready slice files, CAD, and/or assembly files.
  • Product Design & Development: Drive the full product development cycle — from initial concept sketches to final production-ready designs.
  • Prototyping: Utilize large-format 3D printing, machining, and fabrication techniques to rapidly prototype and iterate on designs.
  • Innovation: Contribute to the implementation of robotics and AI-driven manufacturing solutions.
  • Material & Process Innovation: Research and implement new materials, coatings, and fabrication processes to enhance product performance.
  • Customer Engagement: Support product customization and customer-specific projects with creative engineering solutions.
  • Documentation: Create clear and thorough product documentation, including BOMs, CAD files, and technical drawings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align manufacturing processes with business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, with expertise in CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX, Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
  • High proficiency in Rhino3D
  • Familiarity with robotics, AI integration, and automation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology-driven innovation.
  • Strong mechanical intuition: tolerances, assemblies, structures, fast iteration cycles.
  • Some experience with 3D printing in any format.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in additive manufacturing, a definite plus if experience is in large format additive manufacturing
  • Accustomed to building prototypes and creating supporting documentation
  • Experience with making molds & plugs for fibercomposites and concrete
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for validating and optimizing product designs, including stress analysis, deflection, and load simulations
  • Experience using CFD tools, including Orca3D Marine CFD, for hull flow analysis, pressure mapping, trim/squat studies, and structural load case development.
  • Marine / Boat Building Experience: Direct experience in boat building and marine fabrication.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $78,000–$96,000 annually (inclusive of bonus).
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, stock awards, and paid time off.
  • Relocation stipend available for candidates moving to St. Petersburg, FL.
