DIRECTOR, MOTOR COACH MAINTENANCE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Director, Motor Coach Maintenance reports to the Vice President, Maintenance and Communications and is responsible for proper maintenance, coordination, and administration of the Company’s motor coach fleet and facilities. The Director of Motor Coach Maintenance is an experienced and motivated leader ready to join a fast paced, dynamic team.

TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and recognize the importance of maintenance and the condition of the company’s equipment, vehicles and facilities, based on the best industry standards.
  • Understand local, state and federal government regulations and their impact on the Company. If new to the area, must have the ability to develop an understanding of all regulations.
  • Understand the role of the Maintenance Department in achieving Company objectives.
  • Provide leadership, including mentoring, coaching and supervision of departmental staff. Possess excellent team managing skills, including building teams for facility growth.
  • Hire, train, counsel, and discipline staff for the department in accordance with company and governmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensure proactive compliance of preventative maintenance, repair and cleaning programs for the company’s equipment, vehicles and facilities.
  • Meet departmental operating expense guidelines and objectives.
  • Interact with governmental agencies and company clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of the company’s Fleet Replacement Program and subsequent updates.
  • Provide leadership in establishing priorities and strategic plans promoting short and long-range objectives of the Company.
  • Ensure enforcement of all rules and policies as provided by the Company’s leadership team.
  • Additional duties may be required as requested.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE Director, Motor Coach Maintenance:

  • Possess the necessary knowledge and experience of Motor Coach fleet management, vehicle and equipment maintenance for diesel buses and ability to grow in knowledge as it relates to multiple bus engine types.
  • Able to maximize employee productivity and maintain positive morale.
  • Promote and foster a positive working relationship between maintenance team and motor coach operators.
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain various reports and information allowing for informed decision making.
  • Meet with the company’s executive team to deliver data and field knowledge when necessary.
  • Have an understanding of, and successful experience at maintaining a minimum, essential inventory system.
  • Have a solid understanding of, and respect for, the difference in roles within the Company and between the Company, vendors and federal, state and local agencies.
  • Have the ability to show respect for his or her peers within the organization.

COMPENSATION: Compensation is based on experience and is appropriate for the area and position. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, health care and Company 401k program.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess technical expertise and experience in the areas of safety, quality, procurement, management, maintenance and replacement of diesel equipment (Motorcoaches and Transit Buses) a must, with an understanding of Diesel engine technology and theory. Knowledge of Battery Electric Bus technology, a plus.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a strong commitment to safety and quality in fleet maintenance operations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in automotive engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Background in Motor Coach fleet maintenance management. 5 years motor coach maintenance and transportation management or equivalent experience. Knowledge of diesel mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with fleet maintenance programs. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Licenses: Valid Florida driver’s license
