Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (Palla Financial)

Location: Remote

Focus: Infrastructure Reliability, Security, and Cloud Automation

Role Overview

At Palla Financial, we are building the next-generation infrastructure for instant cross-border payments. We are looking for a Senior DevOps/SRE to join our growing team. In this role, you will take ownership of a high-scale microservice environment supporting real-time money movement across the U.S. and Latin America, and lead the evolution of our cloud infrastructure. You will be the primary advocate for reliability, security, and automation, ensuring our platform can safely and efficiently move money across borders.

Immediate Priorities

• Security & Compliance Hardening: Address & enhance infrastructure security controls and ensure full alignment with financial industry standards, specifically PCI DSS.
• Network Resilience: Identify and eliminate single points of failure within the networking stack to ensure high availability across multiple availability zones.
• Access Control: Refine IAM policies and Kubernetes RBAC to implement strict least-privilege access across all environments.
• Legacy Remediation: Lead the upgrade of end-of-life runtimes and deprecated resources to maintain a secure and supported environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Transition existing manual or script-based provisioning into a unified, version-controlled Terraform framework.
• EKS Management: Scale and maintain a multi-architecture EKS environment, optimizing for performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Observability & Incident Response: Enhance our monitoring and alerting stack to improve mean-time-to-detection (MTTD) and ensure 24/7 platform stability.
• CI/CD Excellence: Build and maintain robust deployment pipelines for a large-scale microservice architecture, emphasizing automated testing and security gates.
• Security Operations: Manage edge security controls, including WAF policies, threat detection services, and automated configuration auditing.

Required Qualifications

• Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or an Engineering field from a reputable university.
• AWS & EKS Expert: 5+ years of experience managing complex AWS environments and EKS clusters, including managing ingress controllers and cluster security.
• Go Proficiency: Strong ability to read, understand, and write Go, as our entire backend (74+ services) is built on Go 1.25.3.
• Terraform Specialist: Mastery of Terraform for professional-grade, reproducible infrastructure provisioning.
• FinTech & PCI DSS Experience: Proven experience working within the FinTech sector with a deep understanding of PCI DSS requirements, such as network logging and data recovery.
• Database Operations: Experience managing and securing NoSQL and caching layers (DynamoDB, Redis) in a high-concurrency production environment.
• Startup Experience: Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment is a major plus.
