Summary:

As a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Recuro Health, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the quality, reliability, and security of our telehealth platform. You will drive the design and implementation of scalable test automation frameworks, set engineering quality standards, and mentor a team of QA engineers. Working closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, you will establish and execute comprehensive test strategies, champion best practices in automation and continuous testing, and ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance in the telehealth industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks across functional, integration, API, and end-to-end testing layers.
  • Define and drive the team's test strategy aligning with engineering and product goals.
  • Mentor QA engineers and grow their automation skills conducting code reviews and foster a culture of quality across the engineering organization.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deeply understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and system architecture.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipeline integrations to enable fast, reliable automated test execution on every build.
  • Iterate on standards for test case design, automation code quality, and defect management processes.
  • Identify, document, and track defects; drive root-cause analysis and collaborate with engineering to resolve systemic quality issues.
  • Champion shift-left testing practices by embedding quality early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide reporting on automation coverage, defect trends, quality metrics, and testing health to product and engineering leadership.
  • Support existing QA workflows as we build out our automation suite.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering with at least 2 years in a lead or senior SDET role.
  • Expertise in building and scaling test automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, or similar).
  • Expertise in API testing using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and quality practices within iterative delivery cycles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and architectural thinking skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter, Gatling).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with security testing practices and tools relevant to web and healthcare applications.
  • Understanding of telehealth and healthcare software applications and workflows.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Technology Standards and Regulations (HIPAA, FHIR, etc.).

Location Preferences:

  • This role is open to Remote, but our preference for an ideal candidate would be hybrid with at least 2 days in office each week to work directly with our Engineering Team, and QA engineers in our Minneapolis Office.
