We are looking for an Accounting Manager to own and operate the day-to-day accounting function at TENEX as we scale. This role is foundational — you will be the first dedicated accounting hire, owning the close, ensuring the integrity of our books, and building the controls and processes that will support TENEX through its next stages of growth.
Reporting to the Director of Finance / Operations, you will serve as a hands-on operator and trusted partner across the business — owning month-end close, AP/AR, cash management, technical accounting, and audit preparation. You will also play a key role in standing up scalable accounting processes from the ground up.
This role is starting as an individual contributor with the expectation of building and leading a team over time. If you’re excited about building an accounting function at a fast-scaling, AI-native company, this is the role.
Own and continuously improve the monthly and quarterly close process, including timelines, checklists, and reviewer cadence
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, and other recurring close activities
Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reconciliation of all accounts
Maintain and refine the chart of accounts to support scalable, audit-ready reporting
Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between accounting outputs and management reporting
Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including review of customer contracts and accounting for multi-year and service components
Manage the order-to-cash cycle, including invoicing, billings, collections, aging management, and revenue reporting
Build and maintain Salesforce-to-ERP workflows to streamline deal processing and bookings reporting
Own accounts payable, including vendor onboarding, bill approval workflows, payments, and 1099 reporting
Oversee treasury and cash management, including daily cash position, bank reconciliations, and cash forecasting in partnership with FP&A
Manage sales and use tax compliance across applicable jurisdictions
Lead preparation and execution of the annual financial statement audit
Research and document technical accounting positions, including memos for revenue recognition, sales tax, and other complex transactions
Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to support a scalable, audit-ready environment
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state tax requirements, and other applicable regulations
Drive automation and AI-enabled workflows across accounting to improve efficiency, accuracy, and insight generation
Establish best-in-class accounting processes, tools, and documentation to support a scaling organization
Build and lead the accounting team over time, including hiring, mentoring, and developing team members
Continuously improve financial infrastructure to support audit, fundraising, and ongoing business growth
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or a related role, with significant time in SaaS, technology, or high-growth environments preferred
Proven experience owning the full month-end close process and general ledger in a high-growth company
Deep understanding of US GAAP, with hands-on experience applying ASC 606 to complex contracts
Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and modern ERPs (e.g., Quickbooks, Rillet, NetSuite, or equivalent)
Salesforce experience preferred, particularly for deal processing workflows
Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; comfortable working with large data sets and building reusable reporting
Experience with AP/AR automation, payroll platforms, and cash management
Self-starter who operates at both a strategic and hands-on level, with the drive to take initiatives from concept through execution
Clear and confident communicator, able to translate accounting concepts into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
Naturally curious, highly collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast-changing environment
Opportunity to work alongside a talented, mission-driven team at the forefront of AI-driven cybersecurity
Direct access to leadership with meaningful ownership over your work from day one
First dedicated accounting hire — build the function and the team from the ground up
Competitive salary and benefits package
A culture of growth and development, with room to expand your scope as the company scales
